The 2023 Rolex Shanghai Masters will be staged across two weeks. Two weeks of super tennis with the world's greatest players along with a first international junior tennis event that will be played on the grandstand court and on other match courts.

But the festival of tennis does not end there because the Rolex Shanghai Masters will welcome back an "old friend". For the first time at an ATP tournament, the great ROGER FEDERER will return as a celebrated guest with the title of ICON Athlete of the Rolex Shanghai Masters.

This year, the ATP officially announced the global ONE VISION strategy with its upgrading of five ATP-1000 tournaments to two-week "Super Tournament" status, and with that the singles draw has expanded to 96 players. The Rolex Shanghai Masters is privileged to be one of those elite tournaments.

Players in the top 100 of the world rankings will participate if they are not injured. Among them are Novak Djokovic, who is a four-time champion of the tournament; his grasp of the Mandarin language has endeared him to Chinese fans, Rafael Nadal returns as does our defending champion Daniil Medvedev.

The tournament is thrilled to welcome an exciting band of new generation players who have rapidly stamped their mark in recent years: the youngest world No.1 Carlos Alcaraz, and the Scandinavians Casper Ruud and Holger Rune who will be participating in China for the first time at a tour level. Add the likes of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and company to the mix and men's tennis is living in exciting times.

And of course, for the first time China's men's tennis will be truly featured at the forefront of the sport at home which will be an incredible thrill. China's Big Three are here - Wu Yibing, the first Chinese male tennis player to win an ATP Tour singles title, Zhang Zhizhen, the first Chinese man to reach the quarterfinals of an ATP 1000 Masters in singles, and the highly promising newcomer Shang Juncheng. Chinese fans are in for a treat at the QiZhong Tennis Center.
