Novak Djokovic, a four-time champion of the Rolex Shanghai Masters, has arrived in Shanghai to commence his 2024 campaign.
It was a case of many happy returns as Novak Djokovic made his highly anticipated comeback to the Rolex Shanghai Masters.
The superstar Serbian is the only player to lift the trophy four times at Qi Zhong Stadium, claiming the 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2018 titles. He last competed in Shanghai in 2019.
Djokovic is a winner of a record 40 titles at ATP Masters 1000 level. Should he triumph at the 2024 edition of the Rolex Shanghai Masters, it will be the 100th singles title of his career.
If history is anything to go by the signs of success are promising for the 37-year-old, given the unparalleled numbers he has amassed in his nine previous Shanghai campaigns.
The 39 matches he has contested so far are the most for any player since the tournament's inaugural edition in 2009; Djokovic's 34 match wins are another standalone Shanghai record.
Djokovic has spoken often of his affinity with Shanghai and China - and the world No.4 was warmly welcomed as he returned to the city for the first time in five years on Tuesday.
